How To Join
We are so glad you are considering joining the Gateway family! There is a place here for you. At Gateway, we genuinely desire to get
to know you, and the first step is joining our church family. We believe membership is important because God has called us to do more
than just believe; He also has called us to belong. Membership lets us know who's on the team - who we can count on. Our
goal is to work together to share Christ with our entire community and to encourage one another as we grow spiritually.
Gateway's slogan for years has been, "The Joy of Belonging." It feels good to be part of a happy family! Gateway Baptist
Church is exactly that - a happy family. At Gateway, you are more than just a number. You will find people who are genuinely interested
in you. Many people visit our church every Sunday and continue to visit because they are brought close to God through the music, the study of
God's Word and the relationships they make. Our hope is that people will not stay on the outside looking in. We would love for you to
be a member of Gateway Baptist!
You may join in one of three ways:
- By receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior and being baptized at Gateway.
Perhaps you've already prayed to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, but have not followed through with baptism. If this is the case, you may simply sign up for our Just Add Water Baptism Class and be baptized at Gateway. Believer's baptism is one that follows someone's decision to trust in Christ and is a symbol of our salvation - not a requirement for salvation. - By transfer of membership from another Baptist church.
We call this joining by letter. You simply provide us with the name of the church and city where your membership is held, and we will contact them and request your church letter. - By your statement that you have previously received Jesus Christ and have been baptized by immersion in another church.
There are various reasons why people join by statement: perhaps your home church was destroyed or is disbanded and membership records are not available; you may have been away for some time and you think your name may have been removed from the roll; or you have been a member of another denomination and would now like to join our fellowship. If any of these apply to you, we call this joining by statement.
All you need to do is briefly express to the pastor or a staff member the circumstances and request membership by statement. This simply means that we welcome you on your statement that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and have been baptized, and now wish to be part of Gateway's church family.
How Can I Join Gateway?
You may indicate your desire to join in one of three ways:
- You can come forward during the invitation time of our service when our Pastor will meet you and speak with you about joining.
- You can indicate on the "Connection Card" insert in the church bulletin and the pastor will call you by phone to discuss your desire to join.
- You can attend a Discover Gateway Class. On the second Sunday of each month, the Pastor teaches a class which is an orientation for guests and new members. You will have the opportunity to join during the class.
