Missions
Before our Lord's ascension, He spoke these words in Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
We believe the great commission is a call to every member of God's family to reach out with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We all have other life tasks, but our primary work is to fulfill this call in our home, in our neighborhood, at our
workplace...and beyond. At Gateway, we have mission ministries in place to share the love of Christ with others. Sometimes
we partner with others to meet needs, and sometimes we minister directly to those in need. We have listed below ministries
that are in place that allow us to reach out with a message that can make an eternal difference in people's lives.
Local
Gateway Food Pantry
Gateway's Food Pantry assists the community and members who are in need of help. Gateway's volunteers have distributed
hundreds of thousands of pounds of food through the years to those in need. Our on-site facility located at the back of
the building provides food when needed, but our primary distribution day is Saturdays from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. For those who would
like to volunteer or make donations, please call the church office at 281-363-4500.
Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Program
Through the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor program, our ability to feed the less fortunate within our community has broadened. By
presenting this barcode to your Kroger cashier upon checkout and after they have scanned your Kroger Plus Card you will be enrolled
for the current year of the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation Program. Every time you shop at Kroger and use your enrolled Kroger
Plus Card, Kroger will contribute a percentage of your purchases to the Gateway Baptist Church Food Pantry. You only need to scan this
barcode once with your Kroger Plus Card to be active. You can pick-up a form at the church's Information Desk or print one from their website Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Program.
Bus Ministry
Gateway is blessed to own busses. Right now we are only picking up Senior Adults on Wednesdays and Sundays. For more information contact the church office at 281-363-4500.
Spanish Church
Gateway is excited to offer a Spanish Bible Fellowship Class (BFC) Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and Spanish Worship Services Sunday
mornings at 10:15 a.m. We also have Spanish Worship Services every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Church of Abiding Love (C.O.A.L.)
Gateway has supported the Church of Abiding Love since 2002. Part of Gateway's mission is to help birth other churches as a local
missions opportunity. The COAL is led by Pastor Rod Shepherd and is located in Spring, Texas. You can find out more information
by visiting their website at www.thecoal.org.
Children's School Supply Drive
The start of a new school year brings much excitement to school-age children, but their spirits are dampened when they do not have
the proper supplies. For this reason, Gateway's Children Ministry collects school supplies and hands them out to families in need.
Viewpoint Skatepark
Viewpoint Skatepark is a ministry of Gateway Baptist Church. Our objective through Viewpoint is to reach out to the youth in our
community by stepping into their world. This is truly an "edge" ministry that attempts to extend our grasp far beyond
the reach of the youth in our church. We want to infiltrate the skateboarding culture for the cause of Christ. Our skate park is
located behind the church, in the back of the parking lot. All skateboarders are welcome to join us on Thursday evenings from
7:00 - 9:00 p.m., weather permitting.
Operation Christmas Angel
God gave us the ultimate gift of Jesus, and as we celebrate our Savior's birth, we want every person to have a gift to open
Christmas morning. Gateway has participated in the Operation Christmas Angel program for many years, and our members get such a joy
from helping others in the community. Ministering to local families is a great way to introduce them to our church family and
let them see Gateway is a place they can feel at home.
In our Operation Christmas program, participants collect and distribute Christmas presents for children and families in need.
Gateway members submit names of families in need during Christmas, and provide details on the family. The church body then
"adopts" these families, resulting in Christmas blessings for everyone!
Operation Christmas Child (Samaritans Shoebox)
Gateway members also participate in Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Franklin Graham's organization Samaritan's
Purse. Gateway children get involved in this global program by filling a shoebox with small toys and necessity items. The boxes
are distributed to children in 95 countries. Teaching children at an early age how they can help others is an invaluable lesson,
and it serves as a reminder what the Christmas season is all about. The program not only brings joy to children across the globe,
but it encourages Gateway children to think of the needs of others who are less fortunate than themselves.
National
Southern Baptist Convention
Gateway gives monthly financial support for home and foreign missions through the "Cooperative Program." Together, with
more than 45,000 other Southern Baptist churches, we support 9,000 missionaries on home and foreign fields (7,500 on foreign fields
in 104 countries). Additionally, orphanages for children and seminars for those surrendering to the ministry are supported through
these gifts. Gateway members' tithe offerings make it possible for us to reach out to the world.
International
Gateway to Israel
We take literally:
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the
Jew first and also for the Greek." Romans 1:16
"It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things,
their duty is also to minister to them in material things." Romans 15:27
Through mission gifts which includes a two-week special "Blessing to Israel" offering we are able to give support to
Haifa Baptist Church in Haifa, Israel to Rehovot Assembly-Rehovot, Israel and to Jerusalem Assembly-Jerusalem, Israel. We are
also able to give support to the Nazareth Baptist School in Nazareth, Israel. This is the only evangelical
K-12 school in Israel
with 1,000 students. Our goal is to support churches and missions throughout the land of Israel. If you are interested in helping
Gateway extend its reach to the land of Israel please call a member of our pastoral staff or email us at
GatewayToIsrael@gbcspring.org.
Jamaica
Pastor George Langdon's purpose for "Respect Jamaica" is to carry forth the Word of God and provide food, clothing
and shelter for those in need. Your mission gifts help support this ministry.
Latvia
In the country of Latvia, we support the Talsi Christian School which has grown to 150+ students. Not only is the school presenting
the gospel and saving children, it was the first handicapped accessible school in Latvia. Now handicapped students have an atmosphere
where they feel safe and loved.
