Student Ministry

Our Purpose

Encouraging healthy relationships with God, fellow believers and the world.

Our Vision - Relationships

Upward - Our focus is that students will have an upward development. We want students to realize their need to develop genuine relationships with Christ as Savior and Lord.
Inward - Our desire is that students will have an inward development. We want to challenge students to grow in their faith and become fully devoted followers of Christ.
Outward - Our goal is that students will establish an outward development. We want them to build genuine Christ-centered relationships with other believers. We also want students to build relationships with the world outside the Church so that those people may be reached with the Good News of Christ.

Our Values

Discipleship - We don't want students to just be part of "church culture" or a "social club" but truly to be followers and imitators of the Lord Jesus Christ. In order for this to happen we need to be absolutely serious about discipleship.
Authenticity - We want students to live out their lives in genuine relationship with God and others. The outward actions should result from an inward state of the heart. As a Christian we should never put up a front for others to see - we should be able to be completely honest with each other.
Community - We want students to realize the power and important of living within a community of fellow believers. These believers will provide encouragements, correction, and teaching in living a genuine Christian life.
Character - We want students to know who they are in Christ and have that identity saturate every area of their lie: physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. We want them to realize that each one is gifted through Christ to serve in a special and important way in the body of Christ and the world.
Wisdom & Discernment - We want students to develop a strong understanding of how to love a Christ followers in the midst of a fallen world. We want them to trust God's Word as the guide for their lives and allow it to become the filter through which they make decisions.
Service - We desire to have a positive impact on the world around us. We want to meet the physical and emotional needs of other people, all the while pointing them to Jesus Christ as the source of all hope, health, and healing.

Community and Growth Opportunities

Small Group Bible Study - Our small groups exist to create a safe place for our students to connect with the Body of Christ, and to help them grow in their faith. We currently meet every Sunday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in the Youth Room upstairs.
Student Worship - The Student Worship Gathering offers students the opportunity to worship in an energetic, relevant and authentic way through singing, fellowship and listening to God's truths. We currently meet every Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. The Game Room/Lounge is open upstairs immediately following the worship service until 9:15 p.m.
Creative Arts Team - Our creative arts team is an adult-led team of students who use drama, video and audio to give students the opportunity to serve on a ministry team that not only benefits the student ministry, but also the church as a whole.
Viewpoint Skate Church - Every Thursday night (weathering permitting) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. the skate park is open to offer students the opportunity to skate and hang out with friends in a safe and fun environment, while presenting the Good News of Jesus Christ. The skatepark is closed the months of July and August, due to the heat.
Fellowship Gatherings - We have a full year packed with activities that students can be a part of. There will be retreats, camps, lock-ins, paintball, sporting events, video game nights, laser tag, bowling, and many other activities!
Local Missions Projects - We believe that true faith will lead to action. Because of this we schedule many opportunities for young people to serve those in need in the community. This meeting of needs can often show people the love of God in a powerful way inexpressible by words. Beyond meeting physical needs we want to show people that Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of hope, health and healing.
Global Missions - With the technology of our age the world is open to impact for Christ on a global scale! We will be seeking ways in which we can meet the physical and spiritual needs of real people around the world.

Leadership Opportunities

We can always use adults who are good at building relationships with young people and who will be positive influences and mentors. Additionally we often need adult supervision at various events throughout the year.

Parents - You don't exactly volunteer to be a parent, but parents are by far the most influential people in their children's lives. As a parent we want to support you in as many ways as possible, and we would love for you to stay in the loop with what is happening in the Student Ministry.
Fellowship Leader - Come be a part of our Reflection516 fellowship gatherings! This would not be a weekly commitment, but would be a valuable help. For more information about possible events you can volunteer to help with, please pick up a Reflection516 calendar in the youth room.
Mid-Week Leader - Want to be involved with the youth on a regular basis but you have other commitments on Sunday mornings? Come be with us at our Wednesday night worship services!
Small Group Leader - Our small groups meet from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. every Sunday morning. We start out with all the groups together, then split up for more involved Bible study and discussion. These groups are small - no more than eight students. They provide an opportunity for students to fellowship and build close, genuine relationships with one another. Additionally, these groups help students who might be gifted at teaching or leadership to be trained and grow in their gifts in a positive relationship with a more experienced mentor.
Viewpoint Skate Church - We are always in need of adults to help be positive influences and to show the youth what Jesus Christ looks like through being an adult mentor.
