Light For A Dark World

Week of May 24, 2019

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)

Have you ever found yourself having to slowly navigate across your bedroom floor in the middle of the night in total darkness, the whole time hoping nothing is on the floor that might obstruct your way and cause you to trip and fall? It is during these moments in life that we really realize how important light is to our own safety and well-being. The Psalmist used the analogy of a physical light coming from a lamp to light the path with that of a much greater spiritual light that comes from God. This spiritual light directs the believer through the path we know as our life.  So many people in this world are walking around in total darkness and the distressing part is that they do not even know it. They find themselves stumbling over many of life’s problems over and over again. These people could really use a good lamp to direct their way. Of course the only lamp that is sufficient to guide someone’s life comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The gospel of John records Jesus telling his own disciples, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NKJV).  In order to receive the light you must first come to Jesus for salvation.

When disaster strikes in our lives the first thing we as Christians should reach for is our Bible. The word of God is a light that outshines the darkest of disasters. When we feel overwhelmed by this world, the word of God will bring us comfort and understanding. We are not to keep the light just for ourselves but we are to share it with the whole world. The power of the gospel message should be spread throughout the whole world. I encourage you to be bold and share the Good News message with as many people as possible. Each time you share the Good News you are spreading the light of God and more and more people will no longer walk in darkness.

Let Wisdom Control Your Life

Week of May 10, 2019

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.  His praise endures forever.  (Psalm 111:10, NKJV)

A restless soul will experience frustration and maybe even bitterness.  Remember that life is not out to get you.  Such thinking is often the result of disappointment and goals that have been blocked.

It is important for our life to be controlled by Godly wisdom.  This wisdom is not the result of education, but it comes only from God.  This wisdom affects your whole life.  Human standards no longer determine your values, but you will see people, circumstances, and situations as God sees them.  Disciplining yourself to look at life from this Godly viewpoint will give you a new sense of purpose, and will change your lifestyle.

When you are in harmony with God, restlessness will dissipate.  You will experience the peace of God and the joy of cooperating with others through the wisdom God gives you.

Life in All Its Fullness

Week of May 3, 2019

“To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:19, NKJV)

All of us will experience setbacks in life, which at times rock the foundations of our very existence.  During those times, we must never lose sight of the Jesus factor.  He came so that we may have abundant life.  He assured us in every situation, that He will be with us.  He has promised to carry our burden with us.  Our job is to turn to Him in faith.

If you have faced setbacks, and now you are facing discouragement and maybe even depression, I would challenge you to enter a time of prayer with God.  Tell Him all your problems and concerns.  Share your doubts and fears and then listen carefully for God to speak to you.

Through God’s grace, you will find meaning, guidance, and direction for your life and your life will be crowned with peace and clarity for the days ahead.
