Instructed Through God’s Guidance

Week of August 12, 2022

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Psalm 32:8 (NKJV

It is not always easy to discern the will of God.  Often people ask, “What is God’s will for me in this situation?”   We know that God wants us to obey the Ten Commandments and to love as He commanded us to, but when it comes to the personal complexities of life we cannot always so easily see the will of God.

An intimate relationship with Jesus is necessary for you to recognize God’s guidance.  With an intimate relationship comes a sensitivity to His ways, and then every time you act contrary to His will your heart feels uneasy.  As we study the Bible and gain knowledge of the Scriptures it makes it much easier to know and understand God’s principles.

So, as we live in fellowship with our Lord and as we obey His word, He will guide us through the Holy Spirit and our words and deeds will be brought in line with God’s will.

What Manner Of Person Ought You To Be?

Week of August 5, 2022

“Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought to be in holy conduct and godliness.”  2 Peter 3:11 (NKJV)

When God was about to destroy Sodom, He told Abraham His intention, and it affected Abraham’s life.  Noah was affected when he knew what God was planning for this generation.  Knowing that God is preparing judgment helps us to recognize what is eternally significant and what is not.

Peter warns us and assures us that judgment is not mere speculation but is certain.  He then asks the critical question that applies to each generation.  “What kind of persons ought we to be?” In other words, how should we live our lives?  More than anyone else, Christians should be sensitive to the times in which we live.  We should walk close to God so that we can warn those around us of the day of judgment that is sure to come.  One of my past sermons was titled, “If you are going to talk the talk, then walk the walk.”  Walk what you talk so that you can build God’s eternal Kingdom, and may there be an urgency to complete the tasks that God gives us.

God Encounters

Week of July 29, 2022

“But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you.”  Acts 26:16(NKJV)

God was working in your life long before you began working with Him.  God has had a plan for your life from the beginning.  “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:5(NKJV).  Before the apostle Paul’s conversion experience on the road to Damascus, Jesus already knew Paul and had a specific assignment for him.  But, God didn’t reveal that assignment to him until He gained his attention and was converted.

God invites us to join His will for our life, He invites us to become involved in His work. An encounter with God requires us to adjust ourselves to His plan.  God never communicates with us merely to give us a warm devotional thought.  He has far more significant things to reveal to us than that.  He reveals what He is doing and invites us to join Him in the work He is doing.  Don’t seek to hear from God unless you are ready to ask, as Paul did in Acts 9:6 “…Lord what do you want to do.”
