“Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” (Luke 18:1, NKJV)
As you read through the Bible you will often see statements that are repeated often. “Fear not”, “Wait on the Lord”, “Don’t lose heart”. Now there is a reason that we see these statements often. It’s because we do fear we grow impatient and people quit before the finish line because life can be difficult.
There is a story in the New Testament that addresses unanswered prayer or God’s delay. A window went to a judge to get an answer to a legal dispute but he ignored her. She didn’t give up though. She kept knocking and finally the judge gave an answer. Jesus compared the Heavenly Father with this judge in the story “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?” (Luke 18:7 NKJV) or in other words we can trust the Heavenly Father to answer us if we plead with Him night and day.
Have you given up praying about a matter too soon? Delays occur for reasons. Often times God is working on the other end to prepare the person or the situation. Sometimes He is working on our heart. In any case God will give us an answer if we don’t lose heart.
