“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14, NKJV)
Many people in the town of Bethlehem were not aware that Jesus had been born in an animal stable. The possibility that he could be the long awaited Messiah probably did not cross their minds. Of the ones that did know of the birth, those people were expecting someone much different, the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace because scripture says, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV) It was unthinkable that He would come to them as a babe in the lowly town of Bethlehem. With this child there was none of the pomp and ceremony that usually accompanied a royal birth. Yet, this was indeed the child who had come to change the history of the world. Nations have prospered and dwindled but this child still has unlimited influence on all of humanity. He saves the lost, He inspires the humble at heart, he changes the weak into heroes and so much more.
I hope you will experience the presence of the living Christ in your heart everyday of this Christmas season and may your heart be filled with peace and great joy.
God Bless, Pastor Rick
