The Power of Your Perspective

Week of June 27, 2025

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8, NKJV)

Your outlook shapes your outcome. The thoughts you nurture and the words you speak have the power to either lift you up or tear you down. God, in His wisdom, made the mind to be a battlefield. Victory often begins with what you choose to dwell on.

Paul, writing from a prison cell, pens one of the most positive, hope-filled letters in all of scripture. He didn’t say only when life is easy, think on good things. No, in chains, Paul chose to set his mind on what was good, noble, pure, and praiseworthy.

Why does faith-filled thinking matter? Because your thoughts shape your words, your emotions, and they shape your actions. Proverbs 23:7 reminds us, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he.”

If you always think defeat, you’ll live a defeated life. So set your mind on God’s promises, you’ll begin to walk in peace.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord,

Help me to fill my mind with what is true and noble. Guard my thoughts from negativity and defeat. Teach me to expect your favor in my life. Even when challenges come, let my heart be anchored in hope and my mind filled with peace. I choose today to think on the things that lift my spirit and honor You.

In Jesus Christ name, Amen.

God Bless, Pastor Rick
