“That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” (Luke 22:31-32, NKJV)
The apostle John so enjoyed his relationship with his Lord. He seemed overwhelmed to know that at a particular time in history the God of the universe chose to have fellowship with a simple fisherman. John was so overjoyed that he wanted to share his joy with others so that they too might experience his joy.
Those around us desperately need to be encouraged by our encounter with Christ. They do not need to hear opinions on what they should do. They need to hear from someone who just came from a personal life-changing encounter with Christ. When we have had that experience we will be like the apostle John, not able to contain our witness and desire to tell others about our encounter with God.
Our responsibility is not really to convince others of the reality of God but to bear witness of our Lord. The change and joy in your life will be the greatest testimony of your relationship to Christ. The most convincing thing to a watching world is to hear the testimony of someone whose life has been changed by Christ.
