God’s Comfort

Week of September 27, 2019

“Let, I pray, Your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to Your word to Your servant.” Psalm 119:76 (NKJV)

The Lord was very aware that His disciples were heartbroken by His soon departure. This is why He promised them a Helper, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper that He may abide with you forever.”

Sadness and sorrow are a reality of human life. That is why it is such a glorious comfort to hear these words uttered by the Lord Himself, who was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief.

Is there a lack financially in your home? Jesus did not have a place where He could rest His head. Have you been disappointed by your friend?  His friends betrayed Him after promises they would never leave.  Are you mourning the death of a loved one?  Remember, Jesus cried at the grave of His friend Lazarus.

In the midst of our adversity and distress, our cares and worries, there is someone who understands. He said, “Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.”  Trust God to lead you from the bitterness of the moment to joy and peace of heart by His grace.  His promise is that you will be comforted.
