“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 28:2, NKJV)
I believe God desires to and will bless us when we walk in fellowship with Him. Do you enjoy surprising someone you love with an unexpected gift? God loves to give good things to his children at times and in ways that you might not expect. It might be as simple as a phone call. A friend may drop by to help when you are overwhelmed, or you might receive unexpected financial help at a time of need. Often God’s blessings don’t come in spectacular ways but in ordinary ways.
Blessings come as a result of obedience. I believe it will be automatic, not something that you will have to seek. I also believe blessings from your obedience will come to those around you, your children, and grandchildren. Solomon enjoyed wealth during his reign, but God’s blessings upon him came primarily as a result of his father David’s obedience in the previous generation. God promised Abraham that his obedience would bring blessings to all the families of the earth.
When you receive unexpected blessings, thank God for His continuing love. God is so faithful!
God Bless, Pastor Rick
