Powerful Christians

Week of October 16, 2020

“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?…”  (2 Corinthians 13:5, NKJV)

There are those who think that Christians are weak and dull, living ineffective lives.  Some think Christians live in a world of their own, removed from the realities of life.  They meet together to pray and read the Bible while cutting themselves off from the world.  This is a complete misconception of the Christian faith.

There was nothing weak or ineffective about Jesus Christ.  He was firm at times and tender at other times.  He was a man of courage, and yet we see His humility, and above everything else, we see His love even when He was subjected to hatred and death.

Jesus set this example for all Christians to follow if we wish to be faithful to our calling as Christians.  Of course, we can’t accomplish this in our own strength.  So this is why God has given us the Holy Spirit.  If we surrender our life to Him completely, He will strongly and effectively work in and through our lives.  We will become powerful witnesses of the truth of the gospel of Christ.
